Andrew Hochberg, a partner in Dalton & Finegold, LLP, was a former founding partner in Tamkin & Hochberg, LLP in Newton, Massachusetts. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Western New England University School of Law, where he earned his juris doctor, cum laude, served on the Law Review, and received the Abraham Kamberg Award for Excellence in Commercial Law as well as the American Jurisprudence Award for Bankruptcy Law. Andy also graduated from the New York University School of Law, where he received an LL.M. in Taxation. He has been admitted to the bar in Massachusetts.
Andy began his legal career at the firm of Siegel, O’Connor, Schiff, Zangari & Kainen, P.C. in Hartford, Connecticut, where his areas of practice included federal income tax, estate and gift tax planning; taxation of partnership, corporations and non-profit corporations; corporate planning; residential and commercial real estate; and private equity placements and debt financings. Andy then served as Counsel to Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, where he advised the Corporation with respect to the taxation of its investment, corporate and real estate activities, as well as negotiating with federal and state taxing authorities. Following his in-house experience, Andy went into private practice to focus his attention on corporate and individual tax planning, estate planning and administration, and corporate and commercial law.
Andy has been an Instructor for the Programs for Financial Planners at both Boston University and Merrimack College, has lectured for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, and frequently presents estate planning matters to other attorneys, accountants, and financial planners. Andy is a member of the Boston Estate Planning Council and the Massachusetts Bar Association Probate Council. He is a past President of the Boston Alumni Club of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Vice President and executive member of the Board of Directors of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst Alumni Association, and President of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst Economics Alumni Advisors Board.
Andy has been selected as a Super Lawyer by a blue ribbon panel of Massachusetts attorneys, as published by Law & Politics and Boston Magazine in the area of taxation.
