Christopher R. Vaccaro concentrates his practice in commercial real estate and banking, representing developers and financial institutions in sophisticated commercial transactions. His practice includes real estate development, condominiums, leasing, zoning, permitting, litigation, and loan restructuring. Chris was admitted to the Texas bar in 1984 (currently on inactive status), the Massachusetts bar in 1988, and the United States District Court for Massachusetts in 2001. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Real Estate Bar Association of Massachusetts. Chris is the author of the monthly “Law of the Land” column in Banker & Tradesman, and has published articles in other periodicals, including Boston Business Journal, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, and the New England Real Estate Journal. Chris is a member of the Board of Directors of Bridgewell, a leading human services nonprofit in northeastern Massachusetts. He is a former Chairman of the Reading Board of Appeals and has also served as an assistant coach with Reading Youth Hockey and Reading United Soccer. Chris was selected to the 2021 MA Super Lawyers list by Super Lawyers Magazine.

 

  • Reported Case: McDermott v. Board of Appeals of Melrose, 59 Mass. App. Ct. 457 (2003). Successfully represented landowner in case where city sought to invalidate a zoning special permit, because landowner had delayed recording special permit with registry.
  • Represents institutional lenders and commercial real estate developers in sophisticated development and leasing transactions.
  • Author of monthly “Law of the Land” column in Banker & Tradesman since 2012.
  • Represented real estate developer in Section 1031 like-kind exchange involving $26,000,000 in commercial properties
  • Local counsel in $600,000,000 real estate financing of property in Boston’s Seaport District
  • Negotiated purchase and sale agreement for REIT acquiring 250-unit apartment complex for $90,000,000
  • Represented hospital in $26,000,000 debt restructuring
  • Negotiated and documented $40,000,000 revolving line of credit to a major retailer
  • Successfully litigated adverse possession case against a municipality
  • Corporate counsel to residential mortgage lender licensed in 24 states, including negotiation of multi-million dollar warehouse lines of credit
  • Documented subordinated leasehold mortgage financing secured by major sports stadium
